Requirements:
Must demonstrate a commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and long-term goals
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team setting
Must be able to understand, remember, and follow Board policies, procedures, timelines, and governance requirementsÂ
Must be comfortable communicating with members, committees, donors, and partner organizations in a professional manner
Must be able to commit to attending scheduled meetings, participating in discussions and decision making, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
Must maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive organizational, financial, and personnel information
Must be able to represent the organization's values, mission, and educational philosophy when interacting with members and the public
Must be able to meet the physical and digital requirements of the role, including attending virtual meetings and preparing materials
Must be officially sworn in as a Board member in November 2026
Expectations:
Must support and promote the organization's mission, vision, and strategic initiatives
Must monitor daily operations and provide oversight to ensure alignment with organizational goals
Must review, discuss, and approve recommendations from committees, including programs, events, and budgets
Must contribute expertise, feedback, and guidance to help the organization grow and maintain best practices
Must attend all scheduled Board meetings and participate fully in decision-making processes
Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and ethical leadership at all times
Must communication proactively with fellow Board members, executive leadership, and committees
Must complete any require Board orientation or onboarding sessions
Board Policies:
Board members may be removed by a majority vote of the Board or Executive leadership for failure to follow policies or uphold responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to, issues with attendance, conduct, or lack of participation in Board duties.
Attendance Policy:
Attend all scheduled Board meetings and participate actively in discussions and decision-making
Communicate in advance if unable to attend a meeting
Notify the Board promptly of any changes in availability
Repeated attendance or participation issues may result in removal from the Board
"No call, no show" absences will be documented and may lead to dismissal after repeated occurrences
